Run the Race
Summer is an amazing time to get active OUTSIDE!! Sign up for a run (5K, 10K or a half marathon). There are so many activities to do. A sprint triathalon can be split between 3 people and each person takes their strong suit. What a fun way to complete a goal with friends. Training for a race or a particular goal is a great way to stay in shape and change up your routine. Remember these summer tips for heathy exercise because skin cancer is no laughing matter. Stay sun-safe and reduce your cancer risks. Try to schedule your activities before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. to avoid strong ultraviolet (UV) rays. If you have to be outside during these hours, stay in shaded areas whenever possible and apply a sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15 that provides broad-spectrum (UVA and UV
protection. It always amazes me when I run out to the bank or an errand at lunchtime and it is 90 degrees and someone is running. Don't risk the possibility of having heat stroke or getting dehydrated. Get inside on those hot and humid days and stay safe!! Send us your finish line photos so we can post them on our facebook page!!
