Eating Through the Summer Months
We have a lot of people who use to take the "summer off" from exercise. Over the last year or so, we are seeing more people join the club because they have discovered that they eat and drink more in the summer. Regular exercise ALL year long is critical to keeping weight in control. We all love sitting by the pool or ocean with a soda and a bag of chips with salsa. While this is relaxing, it's probably not going to give you the beach body figure you are looking for and it MAY just give you a bit of a surprise in the fall when you go to put on those jeans or work pants.
Here are some tips for summer eating:
1. Watch your portions
2. Offset alcohol usage with B vitamins and Water
3. Instead of chips and salsa try thin pretzels and hummus or tabouleh
4. Consume fruit when you are craving sugar
5. Instead of soda, drink selter water and use 2 ounces of juice for flavor
6. Allow yourself the treat of ice cream once in a while (if the person at the drive thru knows your name, you go too often!)
7.Water, water, water.........................
Be sure summer gatherings with your friends and family are about the social interaction and catching up, don't make food be the major focus of the events.
Enjoy the season and we look forward to everyone sticking with their exercise plans.
We are running a Summer Boot Camp for 6 weeks at the club during OFF hours, so sign up today to stay on track!!
